DΛRKMESS is a metal quartet from Budapest, that deals with personal, sociological, and philosophical issues, while rethinking cultural elements taken from various civilizations across the ages.
The project started in 2019, going through an experimental phase, while consisting of only 2 members at the time. As a result of this phase however, the entirety of their first EP (ΛRK) was written, which was then subsequently released independently in 2021. Meanwhile, in parallel to writing, recording, and releasing this EP, the band was also growing into a 4-member, concert ready production. With the addition of 2 new members, new ideas and songs came to light in their practice space, which while trying to remain in the same lane as their debut EP, started shifting into an even darker atmosphere, with more complex instrumental arrangements.
A pivotal moment for DΛRKMESS becoming a full band, was their song “Perpetual Apocalypse”, which was released in December 2021, in the form of a music video. This song was also a precursor for their upcoming 4-song EP entitled “KHAOS”, which was then later released in February of 2023. However, prior to that, in December 2022, the band had decided to release yet another single entitled “Dark Matters” from this EP, in an effort to create further promotion. Upon its release, “KHAOS” hit the metal underground scene with a previously unmatched attitude, energy, and just overall sound.
In 2023, DΛRKMESS embarked on an exciting journey, initiating work on their debut full-length album, titled “KRHONOS.” The band’s creative momentum soared with the release of their second music video for the track “Standoff” in the first half of the year. Following a series of club gigs and memorable festival performances, Darkmess took their music to stages across Hungary in the fall as part of a national tour, serving as the opening act for the band LAZARVS. This tour, marked by its success, is set to continue into 2024, culminating in a grand finale on April 5th at the main stage of Dürer Kert.
Looking ahead to 2024, DΛRKMESS is poised for a monumental milestone – the release of their highly anticipated debut album. The band’s evolution continues, and the journey promises to be nothing short of extraordinary.
